5. Who Has Access to Your Data

For registered clients, personal information may be accessed by:

  • Our therapists, as necessary to provide optimal support and access client accounts and clinical records

  • Our system administrators

6. Third-Party Access to Your Data

We do not share your data with third parties in a manner that discloses personal information (such as email or name). Exceptions may involve limited data sharing to partners necessary for service provision.

7. Clinical Services

At JKL Therapy Centre, we collect information during registration and clinical services. By providing this information, you consent to its use as described below. Registration entails providing personal contact details, including name, email address, postal address, and phone number. This information helps identify prior therapy engagements and allows us to contact you regarding your therapy. During registration, we may inquire about attending with a partner or any accessibility requirements to prepare adequately for consultations, whether individual or couples therapy.

Referrals from professionals like GPs may include registration details and occasionally brief summaries, potentially containing sensitive personal data concerning health or sexual relationships. Such disclosures require your awareness and consent for referral to our therapeutic services.

When registering for clinical services, we may request your GP’s contact details. Routine contact with your GP is infrequent; however, coordinated care may necessitate occasional contact, with prior consultation.

Due to therapy’s nature, sessions may involve discussing personal and sensitive information about relationships and family. Therapists may summarise session content and key themes, occasionally referencing sensitive personal data relevant to relationship therapy. Sensitive information remains confidential, with handwritten notes serving as memory aids and progress monitors, securely stored and periodically destroyed. No computer-stored information is retained.

Correspondence between you and JKL Therapy Centre typically forms part of your clinical file.

8. Data Retention

Client data from our clinical services typically remains retained for five years post-engagement before secure destruction. In specific cases—e.g., return engagements for further therapy—data retention may extend, with prior notification.

9. Security Measures

Our site employs SSL/HTTPS protocol, encrypting user communications with servers to prevent unauthorised capture/hijacking of personally identifiable information by third parties.

In the event of a data breach, system administrators promptly secure systems, notify affected users, and reset passwords as needed.

10. Your Data Rights

General Rights: Registered clients may request an exported file of their retained personal data, including additional data provided.

You may request deletion of stored personal data, excluding data required for administrative, legal, or clinical purposes essential to active client status (e.g., basic account information like email address).

Erasing all data precludes continued service provision.

GDPR Rights: JKL Therapy Centre welcomes EU residents to access our services, adhering to GDPR standards. For detailed information, refer to the EU GDPR Information Portal

This Privacy Policy, alongside additional policies and amendments, does not grant enforceable rights to third parties or mandate disclosure of personal information concerning Service or Site members.

JKL Therapy Centre disclaims responsibility for information collected or used by advertisers or third-party websites. Refer to respective privacy policies and terms of service for sites accessed via third-party links.

11. Release of Your Data for Legal Purposes

Psychotherapy and psychosexual therapy adhere to the Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy (www.bacp.co.uk) and the College for Sexual and Relationship Therapists’ Code of Ethics and Principles of Good Practice (www.cosrt.org.uk).

All sessions are strictly private and confidential. Therapists routinely engage in clinical supervision, with clients typically identified by first names only. Supervisors adhere to strict confidentiality codes. Therapists may use anonymised client information for training or research, ensuring complete anonymity.

Exceptions permit therapists to disclose client information to relevant authorities in scenarios involving risk of self-harm, harm to others (including physical and sexual abuse), or legal obligations per court order or statutory law.

12. Amendments

We may amend this Privacy Policy periodically. Updates will reflect on this page, and your continued use of our services necessitates acceptance of amendments.
